Welcome

Welcome to the Bruchmühlen
Die Bruchmühlen is the only working watermill in Bruchhausen-Vilsen, a village 30 km south of Bremen with Germany's oldest railway museum. In the rolling countryside around the mill, where you can enjoy walking and cycling, during the weekend you can occasionally hear the whistle of the steam train.
The Bruchmühlen was the economic heart of the famous Heiligenberg monastery, founded in 1219. The mill was first mentioned in 1370. Walls from that time can still be found in the mill building. The mill house, where the guest rooms are, dates from the 18th century.

A mill for guests
The host Romke Schievink and the miller Bea Tilanus, who loves to bake cakes from the fresh flour, give you a warm welcome. They renovated the guest rooms with love for history and an eye for detail. Guests have their own entrance through the mill, which is a lovely place to stay in the summer. A spacious historic wooden staircase leads through the mill's attic, furnished as a sitting area and multimedia room, to the two guest suites.
Halfway up the old wooden staircase is a well-equipped kitchen where guests can cook for themselves if they wish.
That is not necessary because Bruchhausen-Vilsen offers a wide choice of dining options with the star restaurant "Heiligenberg" less than 700 meters away.

The very spacious garden and meadows of the mill offer various sitting areas where guests have a wonderful view of the waterfall and mill wheel or over the large mill pond and nature reserve "Heiligenberg". In summer it is possible to enjoy the silence in a rowing boat with an electric outboard motor on the water or to enjoy a romantic drink together.
The mill has two guest rooms, "das Wandererzimmer" and "der Kornkammer", which are offered separately but can also be rented together.
